It’s only 76 days until the first day of the trek. Fundraising continues to creep up and we’ve hit £1600 so thankyou to all our supporters so far.
Training is continuing despite the heat, it’s all about conditioning the body to cope with spending 8-10 hours on your feet as well as being able to walk 20+ miles a day for 3 days on the bounce.
Us people who sit at desks all day tend to have shortened hip flexors and long distance walks can cause severe hip pain so the training helps with stretching these too. It’s surprising just how good walking can be for you – it improves posture and core strength, and boosts your general feeling of well-being. A good stride out to elevate your heart rate also burns a significant amount of calories too, there is literally no down side to walking.
